Eating Our Way To and Through Salt Lake City

It has been awhile since I posted a “food adventure” and I figured there was no better time than the present given the Husband and I were taking a 1500 + mile roundtrip road trip. About 3 years ago, the Husband and I went to Salt Lake City for the first time to watch World Superbike motorcycle racing. We went in 2009, 2010 and missed 2012 (their last year racing there) due to our move home from Thailand. We were bummed that they didn’t go there anymore because it gave us a great excuse to visit a beautiful city. Not to mention, on our first trip we discovered a delicious Sushi restaurant and always looked forward to it when we went.

This year, no World Superbike, BUT a motorcycle track day and the Husband signed up. We figured it would be a nice long weekend and a little getaway. The Husband loves motorcycles and has been riding forever. He has been doing track days for the last few years and I do not see it slowing down anytime soon! So, we packed up the bikes, the truck and ourselves and off we went. Here are a few food pics from our trip. I ALWAYS try to eat foods we can’t get at home; a great rule to live by.

On our way to Reno (we stopped there for the night), we found this great little diner only because the In-and-Out parking lot was full. Dine and Dash, located just off of HWY 80 in Colfax, CA, had the greatest burgers! Their beef had great flavor and the bun was toasted just right. Not to mention…steak fries…ooh yeah! Do stop here if you are ever on your way to or from RENO, NV!

In Salt Lake City, the Blue Lemon. We stumbled upon this place one evening looking for something to eat. It was a great little eatery. You order your food at the counter and they deliver it to your table. The food comes very quickly…gourmet fast food.

The Red Iguana was a recommendation by the Husband’s friend. When we got there, there was a group of people waiting outside and the restaurant was full – GOOD SIGN! We came to find out this place had been featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives.

I ordered the fish tacos. They come on the street sized tortillas…my favorite. This restaurant did not disappoint!

And of course, the main reason for our road trip…the most handsome Husband in the world! We had a great time and some great eats. Until next time Salt Lake City (the Husband is already planning the next track day, ha ha!).

  1. We’re going on a road trip to Salt Lake City in a month! I’m so excited, we’ve only been to the airport at SLC, but never to the city itself.
